At acute level, it can be marked by swelling, redness, heat and pain but if inflammation is chronic then it leads to aging and age-related diseases. When our body get introduces by any foreign particle like bacteria, fungus or parasites then our body send the burst of radicals to work against these foreign particles. Not only oxygen but there are many other elements found in the body who have free radicals but it is usually found that the atom with unfilled outermost orbit feel stability when it reacts and combine with another element to complete its unfilled electrons. So, the answer is here, when these free radicals are created then they are checked by enzymes which are actually known as anti-oxidant enzymes which check these radicals. But when the production of free radicals is over beyond the limit of antioxidants enzymes then this is not better. Becuase more production of these free radical damages the cell membrane. And as you seen above that when cell membrane damages then aging can never be stopped. Then in each area of skin, they cause damage.
